Native to Ireland, the Scots pine is an evergreen conifer that can grow to over 30 metres high. Its rough bark has a reddish tint and it has greenish-blue pine needles. It thrives in poor soil and has an integral relationship with our native plants, insects, birds and animals. It has a fresh, invigorating woody fragrance. The red squirrel likes to eat seeds from its distinct egg-shaped pine cones.
