Co. Monaghan
This site was planted recently in Spring 2023 with a mix of dry and wet woodland communities. In the drier areas you will find species like oak, hazel, birch and Scots pine. In wetter areas you will find water-tolerant species such as alder and willow. The many bluebells appearing in early summer show that there is a history of woodland at this site.
Each native woodland planted by The Nature Trust is unique. At this stage these woodlands are young and in time they will be open to the public, with trails and signage added where appropriate. There is great potential for how these sites can be of benefit to local communities as they grow and we encourage community involvement in these woodlands. We will be adding new sites to the website over time, so keep an eye out to see if a new one is established near you!
