This beautiful site has been planted with a mix of native Irish tree and shrub species like oak, hazel, birch, hazel and Scots pine. In wetter areas water-tolerant species such as alder and willow have been added. There are many existing mature native trees in the hedgerows including hawthorn, ash and willow.
Each native woodland planted by The Nature Trust is unique. At this stage these woodlands are young and in time they will be open to the public, with trails and signage added where appropriate. There is great potential for how these sites can be of benefit to local communities as they grow and we encourage community involvement in these woodlands. We will be adding new sites to the website over time, so keep an eye out to see if a new one is established near you!
